In
case you didn't notice, "Weird Al" Yankovic is one of my favorite recording
artists. I actually met Al on November 20, 1999, and had the pleasure of
meeting him again in Carbondale, IL on September 29, 2000. I wish I
remembered more about my second meeting with AL, but we had just
arrived home from Sydney, Australia hours before the concert, and I was
pooped! I had to go see Al anyway. I'm so glad things worked out so we
could go. Al is such a great guy! I was able to go to my fourth (yes fourth!) Al concert on August 4, 2003 in Tulsa, OK. It was scheduled for August 1st, but a terrible storm caused the concert to be delayed. I was a bit worried because I didn't know how Gary would really like the concert. This was his first Al concert. Turns out, he loved it! It was a work night for the two of us, and we both work early so we couldn't hang around after the show to try to meet Al again. Al did sing a line from one of his new songs to me though, and that was fun. I really wanted the boxer shorts he hands out during "One More Minute," but once again I missed out on those. Gary and I purchased matching tour shirts. It wasn't really on purpose, we both went to the T-shirt table to buy shirts, and happened to buy the same shirt and didn't realize it until we showed each other our shirts. There were some other people from work there, and they really enjoyed the show. I wasn't allowed to take my camera in, the first venue that has barred me from taking photos at an Al show. Boo! Otherwise, I would've shared them with you. I can now say that I've been to my fifth Al concert on July 13, 2007. It was once again a blast! I do my best to catch him any time he's in town. I was able to take my camera inside, and I got some good photos and posted them on Flickr. Al still puts on a great show. If you haven't caught one of his shows yet, you should try.
